VISIT TO TAJ MAHAL
As we reached the entrance of the Taj Mahal, we saw some security guards checking people. We walked in the row and reached the main entrance of the Taj Mahal. We met the guide and he gave us some instructions regarding the rules to be followed. He first gave us information about the gates of the Taj Mahal.
The Western Gate of TajMahal: It is the main entrance of TajMahal which was constructed in the memory of Fatehpuri Begum, another wife of Shah Jahan. The court yard is paved and its measurements are 103 feet by 55feet and some 175 to 200 people can perform Nawaz in it.
The Eastern Gate of TajMahal: The gate faces towards Fatehbad. There is a domed tomb erected on an elevated platform near this gate. This tomb was built in the memory of another wife of Shah Jahan, Sirhindi Begum.
The Southern Gate of TajMahal: The gate faces towards the South, which faces the old Mumtazabad. It is meant for pedestrians only. On the right side of this gate is a Tomb of red stone which surrounded by court yards and crowned with a dome. It stands on an elevated square measuring 156 each way.
Then we saw the Taj Garden and the guide gave us information on that beautiful garden.
Taj Garden: The gardens in the Taj were designed by Ali Mardan Khan. Fountains and running channels of water with large reservoirs are typical of their garden designs. Water was drawn from river Jamuna.
Then we headed towards the Taj Mahal. He gave us a white cover, we had to put it on our shoes. We were all puzzled as for what was the shoe cover given for. Then he explained us the reason that the monument of love should not get spoilt with our shoes.
TajMahal: The construction work started in the month of December, 1631 A.D. and it came to a finish in the year 1648. 20,000 labourers worked on it. But the court historians of Shah Jahan- Abdul Hamid Lahori and Mohd. Salih Kambuh has narrated that Mausoleum, and the auxiliary buildings were completed by February 1643 A.D. However the main building took at least 12 years to complete. Some adjacent buildings were also erected in which the Mosque towards the west, another building named Jamat Khana towards the east, a big boundary like huge platform towards river Jamuna and a very big three storeyed entrance gate took another 5 years. Further the mosque in the front and some other smaller buildings took another 5 years. Thus Taj took 22 years to build it. Minerals of Taj leaning outside 3 degree. Taj is 81m from top to bottom.

Then we came out of the Taj Mahal and thanked the guide. It was a memorable, marvelous and educational trip.
